How to Decorate a Store Bought Cake ( Last minute Christmas Cake)

At Christmas time we all have a lot going on. The decorations, the food, the kids tugging at you asking what time does Santa usually come in the night?! So there's a few chances the cake is out of the question. This is where a store bought cake comes in really handy. All I bought was a Swiss roll, a small tub of double cream, Dark chocolate and my lovely neighbour let me pluck out a small twig of Holly from her garden.

To make the Choc Ganache I used a ratio of 2:1.

For a     gm Swiss roll I used 150g of Dark Choc and 75g of Double cream.

Simmer the Double cream lightly over the hob and pour it over the chopped dark choc. Cover and let it sit for about 2-3 mins. Then give it a good stir till mixed thoroughly.
I covered it in cling film and let it cool for a few mins. As it was a very small quantity of ganache it didn't take long. If you're in a hurry pop it in the fridge for only a couple of mins or it'll turn hard.
The icing sugar gives it a nice finish. But if you're not so keen on sugar then you can always skip that part.

I hope this helps. Sometimes the table feels incomplete if there's no cake on it.

Have a lovely Christmas.
